The 4-minute method
Even good tea goes flat if it's rushed. For one cup:
- Boil 75ml of water, at a rolling boil.
- Simmer 2.5g of tea, about a level teaspoon, in the water for two minutes, until the granules open.
- Add milk 75ml, then simmer two minutes more.
- Finish with sugar and masala in the last minute, then strain and pour.

Which tea is best for milk chai?
Strong CTC tea from Assam is the classic choice for Indian milk chai. CTC granules release colour and body quickly, so the cup stays rich and coppery after the milk goes in instead of turning pale. Swachh Premium CTC Chai is blended specifically for this cup.
What is CTC tea?
CTC stands for crush, tear, curl, the process that turns tea leaves into small, even granules. The granules infuse fast and give a strong, full-bodied cup, which is why CTC is the tea behind most Indian chai. Whole-leaf orthodox tea suits people who drink their tea without milk.
How do I make kadak chai at home?
Use 2.5g of CTC tea, about a level teaspoon, for each 150ml cup. Bring 75ml of water to a boil, simmer the tea in it for two minutes, add 75ml of milk and simmer two minutes more, then add sugar and masala in the last minute. Most weak home chai is rushed: the tea needs time to open before the milk goes in.

Every pouch carries its packing date, and the tea is packed in Siliguri in small lots rather than sitting in a warehouse for months. Kept sealed and out of sunlight, it holds its aroma for up to 18 months.
